Lust For Life

Iggy Pop · 1977

Album cover for Lust For Life by Iggy Pop

Iggy Pop is a music legend, so I’m told (well, really, I read that, no one actually told me).
So, I’m supposed to like this, right? Well, it’s not that I don’t like it, exactly, but let’s just say that I lean more towards dislike than like.
But that’s ok, right? We all have our tastes in the world, and we’ll keep liking what we like even when it’s best not revealed to all. Like, a peanut butter and Miracle Whip sandwich on whole wheat isn’t everyone’s taste, but I like it, and you probably would too if you could just get past the idea and try it once or twice. Especially paired with lime Kool-Aid.
And liverwurst on white bread. No condiments, just mushy meat and bread. Delicious! You can even use Braunschweiger and still have success.
And oh man, potato chips with ketchup. Addictive!
And then, ice cream sandwiches dipped in homemade plum wine and balsamic vinegar. Right? Chris, Tim, remember that? I guess there was a little assist there from the wine and herbs, but hey, that was good.
But good god, not ketchup and American cheese sandwiches on Wonder bread. Mike, that was just plain gross, and it still bugs me to know people actually ate those.
Maybe, like Iggy Pop, it’s an acquired taste.
