These guys were pretty punk when they first came out. I’m not sure we can still call them punk, though.
I never really understood where the appellation “punk” came from, though. Maybe it was due to the raw garage band sound, indicating the relative lack of polish on the tunes. Maybe it was due to mainstream folks seeing the purveyors of this music as irritating punk youngsters (‘punks’).
I dunno.
